Family-Friendly Planting Day with Mattituck Park District

  • Sabat Meadow on Bay Avenue Bay Avenue Mattituck, NY, 11952 United States (map)

On Planting Day, volunteers will push aside woodchips, use a shovel to dig a hole, take a plant out of a container, cut its bound roots, place it in the hole, and put the dirt and chips back. This will be needed to happen over 1,600 times. Luckily the plants (and therefore the holes) are small, and the ground is soft because the rain has come. Nonetheless, a lot of volunteers (of all ages!) are needed.

Every adult participating must submit their own signup for themselves and their participating children. Please indicate if you can bring a shovel, work gloves, and a cultivator or similiar tool for the roots.

MPD will provide water. Volunteers will be asked to check in when they arrive.

Register here.
