We see you, parents — some filled with September scaries and panic that you’ve not yet made it through your sworn summer read, others overstimulated and overwhelmed with a house of stir-crazy kids claiming to be “bored.” We think we may have the answer to help take you through August: single drop-in day camps. Because you know what they say, “Absence makes the heart grow fonder,” haha.

Brick Cove Sports Clinics by the Sea, Southold

Tucked deep in Southold on Brick Cove marina’s sprawling bay-side property, your kids (ages 5-12) are invited to drop into a beloved sports clinic camp for the day. Campers will explore tennis, soccer, and basketball while building sportsmanship, team building, and coordination development. Camp is offered Monday through Thursday through August 29 from 9 a.m. until noon, with an extended day option until 2 p.m. at an additional cost. Drop-in days cost $150/child with sibling discounts available. For more info and to book, email Deanna at deanna@brickcove.com.

North Fork Cheer offers it all, Cutchogue

The Little Red Barn day campers will enjoy hands-on learning, petting and playing with farm animals, a pony ride, and more. Remaining dates are August 7, 8, 13, 14, and 15. Become a marine explorer with East End Seaport, Greenport

Don’t miss the final two sessions in East End Seaport Museum’s Marine Exploration program. Although the program ran weekly from July 2, sessions are a la carte and will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 13 and 20 from 9:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. Aug. 13th’s session will explore the Sound and Bay with a field trip to the Long Island Sound to learn about differences between our local waters. Campers will collect artifacts to make an art project for the Aug. 20th session, however, attendance at both is not required. Sessions are $45/child ages 7 to 11. More details and booking information can be found here.
