Four December break camps for your North Fork kid

Two whole weeks — whether they’re eagerly anticipated or come with a bit of dread, (it’s okay, parents, we get it!) — the December break is upon us. If you find yourself on the North Fork during this stretch, we have a roundup of camps to help fill your kiddos’ days with fun of their own.

Play with clay at Rowan Craft Boutique

Rowan Craft Boutique, Southold

In this three-day camp which runs from 12 to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2, through Saturday, Jan. 4, kids ages 8 to 13 will explore the world of polymer clay and create unique pieces of their own including beads, pens, and a trinket dish. The camp is hosted at Rowan Craft Boutique in Sotuhold’s Feather Hill Village and costs $150/crafter for the three-day camp and all materials. Reserve here.

A day of holiday fun at North Fork Cheer

North Fork Cheer, Cutchogue

This nearly full-day camp, scheduled for Monday, Dec. 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. is a win-win for all with holiday-themed crafts, cookie decorating, tumble workshops, ninja play, and more for them and six whole hours for you to wrap every gift on that list. The cost is $75/child and is appropriate for children ages 5 to 12. Reserve here.

A week of aquatic adventure at Long Island Aquarium

Long Island Aquarium, Riverhead

Perfect for when the stir-crazy begins to hit, this full-week camp for children ages 5 to 11 is promised to be equal parts fun and educational. Enroll in the full week, Monday, Dec. 30 through Friday, Jan. 3 ($275), or drop in for a day or two ($65/day). At Winter Fun-cation Camp campers will tour the aquarium, feed the sting rays, catch the sea lion show, visit the arcade, watch movies, craft, and more. Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and there is an option to add on lunch. Learn more and book here.

Themed camp days with Riverhead Rec.

George Young Community Center, Jamesport

Hosted by the Town of Riverhead Parks and Recreation, this full-day camp which runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. will feature a different engaging theme each day for children in grades K through 6. On Monday, Dec. 23, Art in Action Day will focus on creativity and art, Thursday, Dec. 26, Winter Wonderland will explore a day of winter activities, Friday, Dec. 27 is Pajama and Movie Day and invites campers to come in their pajamas and bring a cozy blanket, pillow, and/or stuffies, Monday, Dec. 30, is S.T.E.A.M. Day with hands-on experiments, and Tuesday, Dec. 31, is a New Year Eve Party complete with dancing and fun.
