Hands-on Holiday Treats

Whether you offer your kids cookies and baked goods daily or only on select occasions, there's no denying that sweets and treats feel extra special this time of year. Paired with a create-your-own experience, these four North Fork offerings are a fun and delicious way to get festive.

Build-your-own hot cocoa at The Treatery

Mini M&Ms, whipped cream, rainbow sprinkles, marshmallows, even gummy bears — the sky is the limit at this build-your-own hot cocoa bar that’s perfect for kids and adults, alike. Classic hot cocoa (with whipped cream, of course) is $5 per cup, or opt for over-the-top-toppings for $6.50 per cup. And don't forget to pair it with The Treatery's signature cookies. The Treatery, located at 1564 Main Rd., Jamesport, is open Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.


Attend a baker’s workshop with Little Baker Paradise

Kids ages 3 to 7 are invited to join Jaqueline of Little Baker Paradise for three upcoming workshops. Each session will invite children to decorate gingerbread cookies exercising their creativity, followed by a science experiment to strengthen problem-solving and analytical skills. Workshops will take place at a Riverhead private location which will be disclosed upon registration which is required. The cost per workshop is $30 per person and an additional $25 per sibling. Each session lasts two hours and drop-off is recommended but parents are welcome to stay if they’d prefer. Decorate old-fashion gingerbread with Gingerbread University

Since the early 1800s, people have been decorating gingerbread. Carry on this family-friendly tradition with Gingerbread University! This year, the beloved happening is hosted within Hallockville Museum Farm's historical Naugles Barn where you’ll dive into the holiday spirit while designing anything from festive shapes like snow people (great for the little ones) and trees to whole gingerbread houses (perfect for young adults). On Sunday, Dec. 17, Disset Chocolate in Cutchogue is hosting a paint-your-own chocolate house for the most artsy sweet tooth in your family. This workshop, which begins at 11:30 a.m., costs $69 per person and includes all materials needed to paint a completely edible holiday house made of chocolate — yep, including edible paint!
