Though she may be a more recent transplant to the North Fork, Molly Brown is elated to be putting down roots and raising her family here. She and her husband Jason moved to the North Fork in 2023 with their young daughter Meadow (now nearly 3) and took a teaching position at Peconic Community School in Cutchogue — what she calls her “dream job.”

Join us as Molly shares mothering on the North Fork in our monthly Mom Club, a Q&A with local North Fork moms.

We hope this series inspires you and helps to make motherhood less intimidating, more inclusive, and more connected.

Q: Describe your parenting style in three words.

Molly:  Nurturing, explorative, supportive.

Q: What is your favorite thing about motherhood?

Molly: Creating a bond and relationship with my daughter. I cherish experiencing life through her bubbly eyes.

Q: Would you change anything about motherhood?

Molly: How fast time goes.

Q: In your opinion, what makes raising children on the North Fork unique?

Molly: Raising a family here is absolutely unique. Not only are we surrounded by such natural and native beauty, but also a community of smart, strong, and creative individuals. I've made wonderful relationships and am often surprised by the six degrees of separation across the North Fork.

Q: What role does nature play in raising your child(ren)?

Molly: Meadow loves to be outside, and we love exploring the seasons with her and promoting her natural curiosities. We go on family walks, visit the local playgrounds, and love Founders Beach in the summer.

Q: What's your favorite recent thing that you've done with your child(ren) on the North Fork?

Molly: We love supporting all local shops in all seasons, and recently, we enjoyed Southold Winterfest. It felt like trick-or-treating and seeing so many people out supporting our local businesses was lovely!

Q: What's your child(ren)’s favorite thing you've recently done together on the North Fork?

Molly: The Southold Mothers Club hosted a Polar Express ride on the LIRR over the holidays. Meadow loved taking the train and still has her golden ticket!

Q: It’s said that motherhood lasts long after we're gone — that it's the values that live within our children for their whole lives, too. What are some things that you hope your children carry with you forever?

Molly: I hope that my children know that kindness will always win. I want them to follow their hearts and never back down from what they believe in.
