With Kids: Five North Fork restaurants to bring your petite crew this winter
Kids — typically, while dining out, they’re either throwing a tantrum (hello, toddlers) or wishing they had their own table (hello, tweens and teens). To help take some of the stress out of dining with the whole crew, we’re highlighting five family-friendly, North Fork restaurants to visit this season — some mainstays, some new, and some you may not have considered but should!
Fiocha Pizza
55 Middle Rd., Mattituck
Brand new to the restaurant scene — Fiocha Pizza (located in the old Pizza Rita spot) is serving up insanely good wood-fired pies, salads, and more to come. Best of all, these personal pies cook FAST, the dining room is casual with counter service, and owner Nabeel Massoud is a parent himself who totally gets it. Fiocha Pizza plans to be open seven days a week for lunch and dinner from noon until close. (Currently closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.)
455 Main St., Greenport
Perhaps not typically considered family-friendly, (you’ll want to keep the wild ones at home) treat your mature child to a fancy date of afternoon tea at this lovely Greenport salon and tea room. There, you’ll choose between three set menus featuring finger sandwiches, specialty breads, desserts, sweets, and more, and of course, tea! Reservations recommended. Current hours are Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
221 East Main St., Suite 5, Riverhead
A great option for a post-Long Island Aquarium visit, this sprawling downtown Riverhead restaurant and brewery is ideal for groups with a ton of seating and an outdoor patio for when your petite crew needs a break. The food is pub-style American with something for everyone. Live music and a vibrant atmosphere make the space feel comfortable and kid-friendly. Currently open on Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
117 Main St., Greenport
This Instagramable Greenport eatery offers savory and sweet crepes and more, many made with local, fresh ingredients. Kids can enjoy watching their meal being made and parents will love the specialty Colombian coffee AKA parenting-fuel. Counter service makes this spot a breeze and the owners and staff couldn’t be nicer. Open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Monday.
96 Main Rd., Riverhead
If your crew is hangry from their bowling adventure we have good news — you don’t have to go far for a satisfying meal. And we mean it, The All Star Grill is conveniently located under the same roof as the bowling alley, just head through the door to the east of the main entrance. There, the multi-tiered restaurant serves all the classics plus an affordable kids’ menu. Currently open Thursdays and Fridays from 4 to 10 p.m., Saturdays from 12 to 10 p.m., and Sundays from 12 to 9 p.m.
