Where to pick strawberries on the North Fork

Plucking a still-warm-from-the-sun, field-grown strawberry from the earth is one of life’s simplest pleasures. Best of all, the activity can be enjoyed by children (of every age!) and adults alike. With plenty of North Fork U-pick strawberry fields to choose from, we’ve taken the legwork out and curated a strawberry U-pick guide with a kid-centric spin, of course. 

Patty’s Berries & Bunches

410 Sound Ave., Mattituck

Daily, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., last entry at 5:30 p.m.

$9/person, includes picking container

But also: The cutest ice cream shack, picnic area, and U-pick sugar snap peas 


Wickham’s Fruit Farm

28700 Main Rd., Cutchogue

Monday through Saturday, closed Sundays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

$8.50/quart, no entry fee

But also: Apple cider donuts and other freshly baked goods

Golden Acres Organic Farm

652 Peconic Bay Blvd., Jamesport

Wednesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (also open some Tuesdays, call to confirm, 631-722-5100)

$12/quart, no entry fee

But also: Kids’ play area complete with tree swings and trucks


Lewin Farms

812 Sound Ave., Calverton

Wednesday to Monday, closed Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 

$5.75/pound, no entry fee, cash only, ATM on-site

But also: Chance of blueberry and raspberry U-pick in late June


Fink’s Country Farm

6242 Middle Country Rd., Wading River

U-pick open Saturday and Sunday starting 6/15, 10 a.m. last admission at 4 p.m.

U-pick field admission costs $11.95/person, cost of strawberries is TBD
