Forever capture your kid’s personality in these portrait sessions by Madison Fender

Tired of hearing yourself utter the words, “Can you please just take one nice photo?!” Mark your calendar for Saturday, Feb. 22 as local photographer Madison Fender offers a one-day pop-up studio at Greenport Harbor Brew Co. in Peconic. There, she’ll photograph your children (and family dog if you’d like!) in timeless black and white. 

“I hope to capture your child’s true essence,” Madison shared. “Sure, we can tell them to say ‘cheese’ and have a picture-perfect smile (and we will get those too,) but it’s the giggles, the little side eye, the silly face they make when they’re nervous, or the joy shining from dancing to their favorite song. These are the parts and moments of our kids we want to hold on to forever.”

Madison originally began the series by photographing some children in the Boys and Girls Club of Bellport and has even taken this same approach while visiting clubs in New Mexico. Her goal: “To empower children, boost their confidence, and give them a sense of identity,” said Madison.

These 15-minute afternoon sessions will be offered every 20 minutes from 1 to 4:40 p.m. (pending availability), and are open to all children ages 0 through 18. 

Each booking costs $225 and includes five photos of your child. While there is no sibling discount, Madison will also provide up to five sibling/family photos in addition to the five photos of your child. Sibling sessions must be booked individually. 

All photos will be in black and white. “It’s classic and timeless and makes any home feel put together,” Madison told us. “There is definitely a feeling of nostalgia that comes with black-and-white portraits.” 

As a mother herself, Madison knows first-hand the joy of having photos of your children in your home. She shared, “Even my 11-month-old points to his photo hanging up and loves to show and stare at it.”

But Madison also understands the challenges of professional photography when it comes to family sessions. 

“I know it can be daunting and expensive to find a studio or have a photographer come to your home so I figured I’d try to make this as accessible as possible for local parents,” added Madison.
